COVID-19 Miami-Dade County Update from Commissioner Sally Heyman

  • Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez signs Executive Order allowing restricted use of parks, waterways and golf courses.
    • Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez signed Executive Order 21-20 on Monday, April 27th, establishing guidelines for reopening parks, waterways and golf courses throughout the County. This order will go into effect at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29th.
      • All regulations in Executive Order 21-20 were developed in consultation with health experts at the Florida Department of Health, Jackson Health System, U-Health and the medical schools at Florida International University and the University of Miami along with local coastal communities, the Miami-Dade County League of Cities and officials in Broward, Monroe and Palm Beach counties to ensure a coordinated effort throughout the region.

  • Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department hosts second Drive-Thru Pet Food Bank to help owners provide for their pets.
    • To help provide relief for Miami-Dade County’s pet owners during the COVID-19 crisis, Miami-Dade Animal Services (Animal Services Department) is hosting a second Drive-Thru Pet Food Bank on Thursday, April 30th, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. (or while supplies last), at the Pet Adoption and Protection Center in Doral, located at 3599 NW 79th Avenue, Doral, FL 33122.
      • The pet food distribution event is made possible in part by the generous pet food donation from The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) as part of the national ASPCA COVID-19 Relief & Recovery Initiative, and the support of the Miami-Dade Police Department and the City of Doral Police Department.
      • To help ensure adherence to social distancing rules and for the safety and protection of event participants and staff, the pet food distribution event is Drive-Thru ONLY and exclusively for Miami-Dade County pet owners.
      • Walk-ups will not be accepted at the event.
      • Residents must wear masks or face coverings at all times during this event.

During this unprecedented time, the Sky Lake & Highland Lakes Area HOA would like to make sure the community’s needs continue to be met. 

Now is a great time to check on your neighbors, especially those who might need extra care and assistance. Let’s make sure to follow safety protocol while outside, whether you are walking, riding a bike or driving through the area.

The HOA leadership is in constant contact with our local and state representatives who are offering their resources where possible.

Farm Share Food Distribution 4/24 @ Greynolds Park

Commissioner Heyman with Farm Share and Miami-Dade County Parks Department is doing tomorrow, April 24th, a FREE Drive-Thru Food Distribution Event at Greynolds Park from 9-11am (First Come/First Served Bias, No Walk-Ups).
